Reflexology...more than just a foot rub.
For those of you that have never had reflexology, you don’t know what you’re missing! Personally it’s my favorite treatment especially after a hard day at the office. Most people tend to go for massages and facials as part of their stress management. But me I go for reflexology. We often neglect our feet, when they are one of the most important parts of our everyday living. We use them to get from here to there. We need them to do our favorite physical activity, and without them we wouldn’t be able to detoxify and balance our body through the benefits of reflexology. We take our feet for granted, and they really deserve to be treated.
So what is reflexology?
Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different parts of the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body. Reflexologists work holistically with their clients to promote better health & wellness. Reflexology can be received by anyone, there is no age restriction.
Your feet are the map of your physical body. When your feet feel achy, tired, hot, or sore this tells us there is an imbalance or disease in the related part of the body. A reflexologist will use pressure points and different techniques to decongest that particular area so your body can begin to flush out the toxins and treat the imbalance.
Your body is an amazing catalyst for healing itself. By removing such toxins and balancing the body we can began to heal on the inside.
What can reflexology do for you?
Reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. Usually, after a treatment your tension may be reduced and you might feel relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improving.
With ever-increasing levels of stress in everyday life, it is important to take more responsibility for your healthcare needs. Reflexology may be one of the ways to mitigate the stresses of modern life.

One of my clients shared this opinion on reflexology:
“I don’t like feet and never understood why anybody would want someone touching their feet… until I tried reflexology with Stephanie. Far from hating the feeling of having my feet rubbed, I found it relaxing, soothing, and had a sense of rebalance after my treatment. After my treatment, I felt so many benefits; I had the best night’s sleep in months, felt less stressed, the fluid build-up in my ankles was seriously reduced, and I found the feedback Stephanie gave me really interesting and helpful for thinking about my own self-care. Now I have started to book regular reflexology treatments, as I know it benefits me in mind, soul, and body”
Some variations of Reflexology are:
Fertility Reflexology - is usually relaxing and calming. Research shows that it may lower your blood pressure and heart rate, relieve tiredness and help you to sleep better. There is also evidence that reflexology can have a positive effect on your quality of life and reduce stress and anxiety. This could be helpful when you’re trying to get pregnant, as stress and anxiety may make it harder to conceive. By targeting specific pressure points on the feet your reflexologist can stimulate bodily systems that may help you to conceive.
Maternity Reflexology - For some women pregnancy can bring with it a long period of discomfort and fatigue with nausea, headaches, backache and other conditions associated with pregnancy, taking away the joy and excitement of being pregnant and expecting a baby. Reflexology has shown to be excellent in treating these common conditions and in maintaining balance during the rapidly changing experience of pregnancy. • morning sickness/nausea • headaches • pain & discomfort • stress & anxiety • fatigue • backache • digestive problems/constipation can all be relieved through reflexology.
Chinese Reflexology - This is a deeper & invigorating pressured massage which targets the energy flow in your body.
Facial Reflexology - the key to relaxation. Facial reflexology is an amazingly relaxing treatment. It combines the luxury of facial massage with the well being of Reflexology. Reflex points on the face represent different parts of the body. By working on these reflex points you can work on the associated organs and systems.
Hand Reflexology - For those who don’t like having their feet touched, then try hand reflexology - Hand reflexology is a natural form of alternative therapy that targets the key zones of your body right from the palm of your hands. There are people who get instant relief from various conditions by doing hand reflexology and there are also people who get gradual benefits from the technique only by doing it daily.
All Types of Reflexology help to reduce pain and psychological symptoms such as stress and anxiety, and enhance relaxation and sleep.
Reflexology is works best when you have 6 treatments weekly, then once a month. Once you incorporate reflexology into your routine, you’ll wonder what you did before it.
